A few months ago I went for my mammogram and received a recall for further testing. Today was my appointment at St Joseph's.
Firstly, the staff were all amazing, easy to talk to and understanding. Secondly, I chatted with some lovely ladies waiting for scans and results too. All of us in similar situations with the common denominator being our breasts.
I had my mammogram and was told the radiographer would read it so take a seat. Patients came and went, receiving their all clear and I sat there with a deep sense of dread as the time ticked by.
Then came the news I needed an ultrasound. All this time my husband is sat in the outpatients waiting room and I was texting him updates as we went.
I received this message from him " All things work for good in those who trust in Him." Amongst with some slushy stuff that's on a need to know basis lol.
My mind went to okay if I have breast cancer what is God teaching me and how can I use this to help others. How did we cope when J was given his terminal prognosis.
At that time we both asked what God was teaching us in this situation and what can we learn in the process.
I had great conversations with another patient and learned cool things about somewhere we want to visit this summer God Willing.
Eventually I was called in for the ultrasound. All that time and front of mind was what is the lesson this is teaching me? The Dr who performed it was professional and informative and the nurse explained what we were seeing; I felt well cared for which was a comfort.
Finally for the results! To cut a long story short, a previous growth removal had pinged but it was good, a mole had cast a shadow and a blood vessel had popped. Thankyou God.
Sitting here with a cup of tea thinking about what I had learned from today:
✏️Surrender the what if's to God as I am not on this path alone
✏️Be still and know - I don't need to carry the weight on my own
✏️Focusing on the fact that through our Heavenly Father I will have the strength needed for whatever comes my way
✏️To cast all my anxieties on Him.
✏️Gratitude for the new contacts sent my way
✏️It's okay to feel vulnerable - God's got me covered.
Isaiah 41 verse 10 is a powerful verse to let you know God is with you: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
